And now say something nice...

Thank you to all who said helpful and wise things. It's very easy to get demoralised and silly about the self-pub thing.

I suppose it's important to note that this book would not have seen the light of day otherwise. Of course one could debate whether it should have seen the light of day! I'm in no doubt that the hand of a professional editor would have made a difference. Even though I have cut and edited it, and it has been proof-read and copy-edited - well, it's not quite the same.

I has a plan. The plan is to resissue the other two as ebooks and meanwhile keep working on the fourth one. I have had a lot of problems with the fourth one, since it started out as half-a-Sherlock fan-fic. But you really have to immerse yourself in a book or TV show to do a fan-fic, and I couldn't.

Unlike the M-word, this one takes place in three worlds (why oh why?) and as usual I seem to have smooshed several mythologies together.

The scary part is that I'm planning to set some of it in this world. The main uncertainty is whether I try to make it now (argh) or else in the early 20th century.

I also keep thinking that it can't work and will be a terrible mess. One real world and two imaginary worlds, one of which is seriously under-developed. I keep thinking I'm winging it, it's going to be awful and a pot mess.

However, I have managed to excise Sherlock Holmes aka Benedict Cumberbatch.

Blah with added weather

I wish I had something interesting to post. The fact is that my head is buggered, which is very tedious. It all started after I fell over at Stourhead - my Crocs were no good on the slippery paths. I wasn't badly hurt, though getting up was difficult, but since then my marbles seem to have taken a walk.

Note to self

Hello livejournal, she said feebly. I feel foolish.
I am falling out of the woodwork to mention that Malarat, the book that took so much time and angst to write, has now been published on Amazon in Kindle format. We are going to make it available in other ebook formats and as a PDF, but unless there is a change of circumstances, I don't think there will be hard copies.

Stephen and I have self-published the book - he did all the hard work type-setting and formatting it. Now I need to promote it (waves madly) which is not as easy as it looks. Popping up on Twitter and saying 'Please buy my book!' must lead to the question 'Why?'

Well, I think it's jolly good, one shouts manfully (or womanfully) whilst playing one's ukelele as the ship goes down.

So, without more ado, it would be fabbity (!) if anyone who reads this could stroll over to amazon and, you know, have a look.

Gwon.

And here's a piccie!
