stop smoking: Day 0

We stopped today. Haven't smoked since about 10am this morning.

Keep thinking - must have a fag - and then remember I can't.

Happy Thanksgiving to those as celebrates it!

You can do it! Every time you don't have a fag you are allowed to be ridiculously pleased with yourself and give yourself huge quantities of praise. Smugness, too, is allowed.

Oh Maggie...we (him and me) feel anything but smug right now! Stephen is fed up because he got ratty and I am just fed up. Mind you, it is good to read everyone's comments. And I know if we do fail, it won't be for want of trying!

Pod said he was tired of being good. I told him we are NOT being good...because smoking isn't being bad. This is part of the Allen Carr argument (that'll be 200 quid please LOL) though I'm not sure that I've quite got the hang of it.

(Yes, rattiness is a problem, I do know. But one can only grit one's teeth and smile - and if necessary leave the room. Really, this won't last much longer!)

Hi there^^
It is really hard at the moment. We went to Sainsbury's and it was so awful, we had a row about baked beans and were both dying for a fag. The nicotine inhalers just aren't the same :(
A friend recommended Allen Carr's clinics, but they cost £199 a session. Right now, I would give anything for a Silk Cut.
I have to keep reminding myself that the faggies didn't stop me feeling depressed before! Perhaps I should do some cleaning in the knowledge that all that yellow tarry stuff won't come back...

I'm not good at the moment, unfortunately. I just got over a gastric flu virus that lasted two and a half weeks and now I've got a horribly painful abscess on my tooth. I'm full of high strength antibiotics that don't seem to be working and I have to have the tooth extracted which is all a bit doom and gloomful!

Glad to hear that you're persevering with stopping smoking though, congratulations on getting this far. I think it's really worth it and I'm sure it'll get easier as time goes on (you'll be much better off financially too of course, which is always A Very Good Thing) xxx

Sorry to hear that, Jess. Pod sends sympathies as he had an abscess too not long ago. For some reason, antibiotics actually seem to make you feel worse.

We are trying to Snack Virtuously, which is tricky. Not to diet (bad idea right now!) but to eat nice, healthy snacks LOL.

I have said to Pod that if we go back to smoking, we should just do it outside like you and Adrian.
